Strategic Networks: Creating the Borderless Organization by J. Carlos Jarillo

ree

What it is about:

The companion book to Strategic Logic this time focused on emerging multi-company organizational structures. In the same style of working from first principles and without buzzwords professor Jarillo describes and analyzes the different ways that multi-enterprise networks operate, what their incentive structures are, their strengths and weaknesses

Why it changed my thinking:

In the last decade the pace of innovation in business models around supply chains has accelerated prodigiously. From fulfillment networks to shopping portals, trade finance etc. Business processes that used to be controlled by a single company are now executed by multiple companies with their own internal priorities, incentives and organizations. Reading this book allowed me to makes sense of this jungle and be able to see clearly the different ways that companies engage and also identify opportunities for models that were not yet developed.
