The No Asshole Rule, by Robert Sutton

Updated: Nov 17, 2023

What it is about:

A thoroughly researched, compelling case of the disastrous effects that toxic personalities have in the workplace and beyond, with plenty of examples and insights on how to recognize them in others and yourself.

Why it changed my thinking:

It articulated in a very clear way the nagging feeling that "being decent" should count for something and that, no matter how brilliant or powerful somebody is, it is not worth to tolerate them in an organization or community. Since I had the privilege to take one of Professor Sutton's classes during my graduate work, and then read the book, its principles became a cornerstone of any culture and values that I try to bring to any team I am part of.

Where to get it:
